Jervis Bay Dive Charters

Next trip to the seals will be Sunday 21st August 2011

You never get tired of seeing Seals, Whales and Dolphins in the Bay

The Bay never ceases to amaze me especially during the winter months with the whale migration.

Unfortunatly the weather has not been great of late but with fingers crossed it will improve over this month.

Charter News Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th September
Our latest boat dive trip (Saturday 25th Sep) was once again blessed with Seals, Whales and Dolphins. Picking up our Divers at Murrays Beach we headed north to the Drum and Drumsticks (although there is only one Stick standing). There was a bit of wind blowing but the trip down was reasonably flat(yes I know you got wet lyn).

Anchoring up our first dive was on the wreck the T.S.S. Wandra which sank on 15th December 1915 with all crew surviving. The wreck is in 26 meters of water just off a reef and although broken you can still see the boiler and engines. The vis was down a bit (about 5 to 7 mtrs) but the divers still enjoyed their dive. Back on board the boat they were treated to a choice of hot drinks, soup, cake and fresh fruit.

After the surface interval we moved over closer to the Drum and dropped off our divers to swim with the seals. There were some 60 seals and our divers had a wonderful time with plenty of seals in the water swimming around and playing with them. Whilst travelling back to Murray's we had 2 Whales surface near us but, unfortunatly they did not stick around. So leaving them to enjoy their trip south we proceeded back into the Bay were we were encircled by a school of dolphins.

We returned to the Bay to do our night boat dive mooring up at the our dive site "The Nursery" off Bowen Island. The divers spent an hour in the water swimming around and enjoyed the abundance of life at the Nursery. Returning to drop off my hearty divers I headed back to Huskisson.

On Sunday 26th Sep with the sun shining and a very light wind we again headed north to dive with the seals and of course our divers were again entertained by the seals. Leaving the Drum we returned back to the Bay this time escorted by dolphins. The Dive Crew on board decided on another dive at "The Nursery". What a wonderful dive with numerous Port Jackson/Crested Horn sharks and lots and lots of fish. What a fantastic weekend Sunshine (most of the time), light winds and reasonably flat seas. Can we improve on that for the long weekend - our next booked dive adventure in Jervis Bay?
